Thanks for the excellent review of working on Substack. I have found myself, on some days, after finishing an article or posting and commenting on Notes that I have exhausted my creative energy for the day. I have four books at various stages of "almost finished" and I have set my goal for 2025 to publish them. I will not let Substack interfere with this goal..
1. Here to Stay / Life in Seventeenth-Century Canada centers on my 4 initial progenitors in North America. They serve as an Everyman and Everywoman for the era. It is almost ready to go to blurbers. I will publish it for the fall.
2 I have three novellas in a series of gay coming out.
A. "In Just One Summer" focuses on a twenty-year old man struggling to emerge from his low-aspirtion working class background as he experiences his first love. This novella is out to Beta Readers now.
B. "A Focus of Affection" is about a thirty-ish priest who falls in love with a man while at a university class and must admit his attraction and align his life. (This one is on a three-month hold to reinvigorate my inspiration.)
C. "Following His North Star" (not satisfied with title) is about a middle-aged man realizing that his marriage is over and knowing that he is attracted to men wants to be free to pursue that. This will go out to Beta Readers in the next month.
My goal to publish 4 books this year is moving right along!
What an insightful post/ article!! It’s really given me some food for thought!
Thanks so much for sharing, Chloe! I hope it’s helpful!
