Writing haiku is always a door to more for me as well - as you say, an effective warm up - but also so satisfying in itself. I also like to listen to music to set the mood for a work in progress. I've always had a "theme" song for each of my novels as I wrote them, and sometimes they have changed as I worked on the story. Having that overarching mood helps keep me focused on what I want readers to feel while they're reading. I often get ideas for short stories and poetry from music I'm randomly listening to, too.

Yes definitely. It's great to have sources of inspiration like that. I have a playlist for my novel as well. What's your favourite "theme song" for one of your novels?

My favorite might be Another Heaven by Earthmind (I’m a big anime/manga fan and this is from one of my favorite series, Fate). The song for my current WIP is Birth by ARTMS (k-pop group, but it’s a dark song - my daughter and I saw them perform in Chicago a few months ago and it was incredibly cool to hear this song live). What are your favorites on your playlists (I started out wanting to have playlists but found it better for me to focus on one song)?
